Privacy — Dono Log

The principle
Dono Log is a blood donation log for iPhone and Apple Watch. It has no account and no server of ours, and it is not affiliated with Héma-Québec or with any blood service. We never receive, store or see any of your data. There is nothing for us to sell, lose or hand over, because there is nothing on our side to begin with.
What the app keeps
Dono Log records what you put into it:
- your donations — type, date, place, and the organisation you give to
- the stays you record or import from Tessella, to work out the travel waits
- your blood group, your region, your reminder settings and your appointment dates
- the photo of your donor card, and the number, group and barcode read from it
Where it lives
On your device. If you turn iCloud on, it also syncs through your own private iCloud database, which Apple encrypts and which we cannot open, read or list. We have no key and no access of any kind.
What it asks permission for
Every one of these is optional. Refuse any of them and the rest of the app keeps working.
- Camera
- To photograph your donor card. The picture is read on the device and stays there.
- Photo library
- To import your donation history from screenshots you already have. The app reads the text on the device; the photos themselves stay in your library.
- Calendar — write only
- To add an appointment. Dono Log never reads your calendar: iOS grants it write-only access, so it cannot see anything you have.
- Notifications
- For the reminders you choose. They are scheduled on the device by iOS; no notification is sent from a server.
- Health
- To read your blood group, and nothing else. See the Health section below.
- iCloud
- To sync your log between your devices, through your own iCloud account.
Health
Dono Log never writes to Health. It asks for one single value in read-only: your blood group, so you do not have to type it. You can refuse and enter it yourself; everything else in the app works the same.
What leaves the device
Nothing. The app makes no network request of its own: no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising, no third-party kit of any kind. It works in airplane mode.
The app shows links to the sites of the blood services — Héma-Québec, Canadian Blood Services, the American Red Cross, EFS, NHSBT — so you can book. Those open in your browser when you tap them. The app itself never contacts them, and never sends them anything about you.
Your data is yours
Export everything, whenever you want, without asking us. Delete the app and what was only on the device is gone; what synced to iCloud goes when you remove it from your iCloud settings. We cannot recover any of it for you, because we never had it.
Children
The app is not directed at children and collects nothing about anyone, of any age.
Changes to this page
If the app ever starts doing something this page does not describe, this page changes first. The date at the top says when it last did.
Your rights
Quebec’s Law 25 and similar laws elsewhere give you the right to access, correct and delete the personal information a business holds about you. In our case the answer is the same every time: we hold none. Your information is on your device and in your own iCloud, where you can already read, change and delete all of it yourself.
