The principle
Indosso remembers who has seen you in what. That is a memory about the people around you, so it is the one this page explains first — and none of it leaves your device. We never receive, store or see any of your data. There is nothing for us to sell, lose or hand over, because there is nothing on our side to begin with.
What the app keeps
Indosso records what you put into it:
- your wardrobe: each piece, its photo, its category, its colour and how memorable you said it is
- your outings: the place, the hours, what you wore, your note, and the photos you attach
- the people you go out with: a first name, a link to a contact if you make one, and the circles you put them in
- what each place turned out to be like — how dressy, indoors or terrace, warm or air-conditioned, stairs, whether people dance
Where it lives
On your device. If you turn iCloud on, it also syncs through your own private iCloud database, which Apple encrypts and which we cannot open, read or list. We have no key and no access of any kind.
What it asks permission for
Every one of these is optional. Refuse any of them and the rest of the app keeps working.
- Camera
- To photograph a piece of your wardrobe. The photo stays on your device and, if you turn iCloud on, in your own iCloud.
- Photo library
- Only if you ask the app to find your past outings, or to import an album of clothes. The photos are read on the device: their date and place are used to propose an outing, and nothing is copied anywhere else. No face is ever recognised — the app has no face recognition at all.
- Calendar
- Only if you turn it on. The app reads the title, the place, the notes and the guests of an event to prefill an outing: where, with whom and when. It writes nothing to your calendar.
- Contacts
- Only when you link a person to a contact, to keep the name and the photo right. The app keeps the link and the first name; it never copies your address book.
- Location, while the app is open
- To find the places near you when you note an outing, and to get the evening’s forecast for where you are going. It is never read in the background.
What leaves the device
The app has no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising and no third-party kit of any kind. What it does send, it sends only to the services below, and only for what you asked it to do:
- Apple Maps, to find a place
- What you type, and the area you are looking at, to turn it into a named place.
- Apple Weather
- The coordinates of where you are going and the hours you plan to be there, to show the evening’s forecast.
None of it reaches us. We have no server in any of these paths, and we never receive a copy.
The suggestions
Two models run, both on your iPhone. A specialised Core ML model reads a photo of a garment and proposes its category and its colour. Apple’s on-device language model reads a sentence you type, so you can say where you are going instead of filling in fields — it reads the sentence, it never picks the outfit. Nothing about your wardrobe, your outings or the people in them is sent to a model on a server: not ours, not anyone’s.
Talking to Cartina
If you turn it on, Indosso writes the places you go out to in a file inside a folder the Nidello apps share on your device, so Cartina can put them on your map; and it reads Cartina’s travel file, so an outing during a trip can be marked as one. The setting is off until you turn it on, turning it off publishes an empty list, and that file never leaves the phone. Without Cartina installed, nothing happens.
Indosso is at version 0.1, in internal testing. This page describes the app as it is built today, and it changes with it.
Your data is yours
Export everything, whenever you want, without asking us. Delete the app and what was only on the device is gone; what synced to iCloud goes when you remove it from your iCloud settings. We cannot recover any of it for you, because we never had it.
Children
The app is not directed at children and collects nothing about anyone, of any age.
Changes to this page
If the app ever starts doing something this page does not describe, this page changes first. The date at the top says when it last did.
Your rights
Quebec’s Law 25 and similar laws elsewhere give you the right to access, correct and delete the personal information a business holds about you. In our case the answer is the same every time: we hold none. Your information is on your device and in your own iCloud, where you can already read, change and delete all of it yourself.
