Mescita
Your bar and your cellar, and what you can make with what is really there.
A recipe book does not know that the vermouth is nearly gone. Mescita keeps count of the bottles you own, how full the open ones are, and the wines waiting in the cellar — then shows the drinks you can actually make tonight. iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch.
- 1,000recipes written by Nidello
- 150classics in the free version
- CA$29.99once, for Pro
- The bar, bottle by bottle
- Scan a barcode, read the label, or type it in. Closed bottles are counted apart; for an open one, you slide a cursor over its photo to say how much is left. An unknown barcode is looked up in Mescita’s public barcode base, then in Open Food Facts — and if you confirm, your answer helps the next person. Nothing personal goes with it.
- What I can make
- The recipes you can make with what is in stock, in sufficient quantity, and the ones you are a single ingredient away from. A London dry gin answers any recipe that asks for gin.
- A thousand recipes, written by us
- 150 classics are free; Pro opens the other 850. Alcohol-free drinks are recipes in their own right, not an afterthought. Quantities in millilitres, or in US ounces if you prefer.
- The shopping list, and where to buy
- Set a minimum for a product or an ingredient and the list fills itself. Each item carries a search link at your region’s retailer — the SAQ, the LCBO, the other provincial boards, and a few more abroad. It is a plain link that opens in Safari; the app sends them nothing. With Pro, the list is on your Apple Watch to tick off in the store.
- The cellar
- Producer, vintage, region and drinking window for each wine, unlimited in the free version. With Pro: a plan of your racks, alerts when a window opens or closes, and the wines from your cellar that suit a dish.
- Pro, once
- The 1,000 recipes, suggestions for tonight, party mode, taste profiles learned from your stars, a bar shared with the people you invite, the cellar plan, requests in your own words, food and wine pairing, widgets and the Watch. Requests are read by Apple’s on-device model, which only translates what you ask; the app picks from your real stock. CA$29.99 once, shared with your family — no subscription, no ads.
- Nothing to keep up with
- No challenge, no record, no streak, and nothing that urges you to drink. Standard drinks are information you can turn on; they are off by default. Rated 18+. The privacy page lists every permission and everything that leaves the device.
Seven languages, nine variants: English, French, German, Spanish (Spain and Latin America), Italian, Japanese and Portuguese (Brazil and Portugal). Free: unlimited bar and cellar, 150 recipes, CSV import and export, iCloud sync.
Mescita is at version 1.0, in internal testing. There is nothing to download yet — this page will carry the link when there is.
